Visiting Gusbourne Estate was on our 'to do' list for a while, not just because we love and sell their wines but also because we wanted to see if the professionalism and the style has been carried on from the wines to their new tasting room and visitor centre, The Nest.
So, on a fairly sunny Sunday morning we decided to take Dino for a walk but this time, instead of walking by the river between Richmond and Kingston as usual, we heade down to the coast in rural Kent. On the way to Rye we popped into the estate unannounced to see if they were happy to give us a glass of delicious bubbly in the sunshine.
The ladies who look after the Nest were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable, as one would expect. The space was stylish and immaculate, a lovely set up for tastings and events. Our favourite part was the terrace overlooking the vineyard where we re-tasted their portfolio once again and tried the new vintage of the Pinot Noir, which is top-notch too. Later we walked around the vineyard which was obviously Dino's favourite bit and went off to the beach - only 20 minutes drive - to spend the rest of the day wondering around there.
To summarise our trip we got the expected (positive) answer to our question, Gusbourne Estate is as great as their wines. Definitely worth a visit!
